Meta-researcher

As a full professor at the School of Library and Information Sciences, Vincent Larivière is one of the most cited researchers in his field, with a remarkable number of publications and presentations delivered at international conferences in Canada and abroad. In addition to supervising graduate students, he is involved in more than twenty active research projects.
His research examines science policy, the evolving landscape of scholarly communication and scholarly publishing, research evaluation, open science, and equity and diversity in the scientific community.
Global recognition
Vincent Larivière’s research has had a notable impact on the global scientific community. This is reflected in his presence on Clarivate’s 2025 list of the most Highly Cited Researchers in the world.
A network of influence
As the holder of the first UNESCO Chair in Open Science, Vincent Larivière plays a central role in several strategic initiatives. He is co-holder of the Québec Research Chair on the Discoverability of French-Language Scientific Content, scientific director of the Érudit platform, and deputy scientific director of the Observatoire des sciences et des technologies. He also serves as editor-in-chief of Quantitative Science Studies (QSS) and is a regular member of the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sur la science et la technologie (CIRST).
